Training course Sustainable Energy Solutions
The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the Energy Academy Europe (EAE) are organising a joint training course titled ‘Sustainable Energy Solutions’ this fall.
The course aims to enhance understanding of key topics related to energy transition and to contribute to building new capacities for promoting sustainable energy systems for climate resilient industry, especially in the context of emerging economies.
Some 25 professionals from developing countries will come to Groningen to discuss recent trends in sustainable energy solutions and to reflect on practical, innovative and cost effective ways to address sustainability.
Lecturers from UNIDO, EAE, the University of Groningen, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, other EAE partners and the UNIDO network will provide insights into the global framework for inclusive and sustainable industrial development; renewable energy techniques; industrial energy efficiency measures; energy systems integration and modelling; grid development; energy economics; financing schemes for energy and climate change; innovation ecosystems; gender / human dimension of energy transition; and integrated solutions on the nexus of energy, climate change and land use.
Guest lectures and work visits complement the intensive 8-day programme. The course will be held at the Energy Transition Centre (EnTranCe) on 30 November – 7 December 2016. The training course is the first joint activity to be developed by UNIDO’s Department of Energy, UNIDO Institute for Capacity Development and Energy Academy Europe.
UNIDO and EAE have the ambition to also undertake projects in the area of, for example, renewable energy and energy efficiency. Parties expect to finalise a Memorandum of Collaboration in coming months.
